The Great Ocean Road - Victoria
10/04/2009
What a magnificent monument to
our First World War (1914-1918) returned soldiers. The road was first
started in 1917 as The Great Ocean Road Trust and 3000 diggers were employed
from 1919 working on the project by hand for a total of 12 years.
The road is internationally
acclaimed and is a must do/see. We hope you like the photo's.

We have not stopped since
arriving in Victoria and have enjoyed beautiful weather after the heat wave
and the tremendous devastation of fires with Black Saturday. We have very
little to report other than general site seeing photographs of various
venues and hope you enjoy the slide show.

SA's Port Augusta on the Eyre Peninsula
13/07/2008
The cruiser, rig & BB are
behaving well with an uneventful run from Whyalla into Port Augusta. The
Pitchi Ritchi Railway runs out of Quorn up in the Flinders Ranges so Mike
& BB are looking forward to stepping back in time.

SA's Port Lincoln on the Eyre Peninsula
01/07/2008
Well Mike & BB have finally headed off on 'THE BIG ONE'. Scares Mike to think we are now 3 weeks into the trip and things are just running like a dream. We are finding it difficult to handle the winter months in the southern part of our continent but will continue to brave it for as long as possible. Some of the parks we have stayed at in the Eyre Peninsula have absolute beach front and these places are just spectacular. |

Tom Price - Western Australia
13/01/2007Mandurah to Tom Price and return covering 5000Km in 2 weeks with an aditional weeks stay with our granddaughters was always going to be a reasonable ask for both man and machine. Pleased to say the cruiser, caravan and novices Mike & BB passed with flying colours, but not without incident. Although only minor, the first item to self destruct was the digital camera, the second item had a little more impact, a broken air conditioner in the caravan. Bugger! and that was the second night into the journey.
Being adventurous our itinerary was to take the coastal route one way and return via the inland route. This allowing us to pick up and stay with friends Murray & Glenys Fraser in Geraldton, then onto Carnarvon, Coral Bay and friends Dave Tuke & Colleen in Onslow (check out Dave's big yella boat) and then to our delight the granddaughters and family in Tom Price. The return however was drastically modified, you guessed it, we returned via the much cooler coastal routes by the sea. Tom Price and inland communities at this time of the year experience days of 45 degrees Celsius heat and with no air conditioning! I don't think so. Check out granddaughter Rachel's 3rd birthday and BB's 60th birthday present. Mike's also shattered with not having had his camera but we've managed with the help of friends to assist with this segment of our travels and provide some pictorial record.

Bunbury - Western Australia's South West
17/11/2006
This trip was for a long awaited "can't wait to test things out" trip and specifically tailored to a newly purchased Annex. Catching up with friends for a Xmas drink was also top of the list and that was certainly one of the highlights of the trip. Thanks to Peter & Julie McKay and Paul & Sharon Warner for such a lovely evening. BB and I are very much novices so when we booked the Koombana Bay Caravan Park and the receptionist stated that yes, you can put up your annex 'but not on the grass' I guess that didn't mean very much at the time. Bugger, that will teach me for not being more thorough, if you can't put it on the grass, where in the hell can you put it. Suffice to say no annex testing, but we had a great time and learnt heaps more about the van, not least, more about caravan park owners. BB's adding more of her touch to the interior every trip to the stage where its more of a home than our home. |

Bernice's 60th Birthday
17/12/2006You just can't trust anyone these days!, after explicitly saying no surprise party for me, just the family in Tom Price in January, what can one say. Had no bloody idea, was supposed to go out for lunch with some dear friends (or so I thought they were !!), ended up with a room full of people at the Mandurah Offshore Fishing & Sailing Club. As I walked into the Club and not seeing our names on the luncheon booking list, Mike said they must have booked us outside, I thought nothing of it, but on the way thru in the distance I saw what I thought was my son John and was just about to say to Mike "that looks awfully like John". On entering the room all I could remember at that stage was the 2 Grandchildren running towards me, but your not down until Xmas!. Got a lovely surprise from Family and some dear friends, some of which I had not seen for many years, it was absolutely fabulous.

Busselton - Western Australia's South West
07/07/2006The long awaited shakedown trip is finally here. BB and I have been stocking the caravan over the last 3 months so we at least have the bare necessities for the inaugural trip. We're venturing from our home in Mandurah to the South West town of Bussleton which is only some 200Km away for the practise run. The idea is to get an idea of the fuel consumption figures for the vehicle and just get a feel for the caravan and accessaries. Nothing spectacular to report other than magnificent fuel consumption figures for the vehicle caravan combination. The bonus being that all fittings, accessories and additions to the caravan worked a charm. Well maybe not the first time! |

Have a look at our new home
3/04/2006
Well we can't believe it, we finally have the bloody vehicle and caravan. We have pained over this for a couple of years as to the correct vehicle for tow ability and fuel consumption. BB had her requirements for the van and I did the rest. The result we believe to be an outstanding combination from Toyota and the latest design from a well respected caravan manufacturer, Coromal Caravans. |
Please have a look around.
