This is where it all started. The original Telegraph Station setup as a repeater for the single line telegraph system from Adelaide South Australia to Darwin in the northern territory, where it was then piped undersea to Singapore. The buildings in view from right to left are the Station Masters residence with the Kitchen as a separate building and the supporting barracks for the signal line workers. The carriage and horse stables can be seen at the rear. The town of Stuart was formed 3km south of this location and was later to be named Alice Springs.
